PARADISUS PALMA REAL RESORT- PUNTA CANA- DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

PLEASE NOTE: THIS REVIEW IS INTENDED TO PROMOTE SALES AS A TRAVEL ADVISOR, I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR BUSINESS IF YOU DECIDE THIS VACATION IS FOR YOU.

My next stop was the Paradisus Palma Real.  This resort has been open for just about a year and it is the
epitome of luxury.  Your first impression when you walk into the lobby is “WOW” when you see the grand
staircase that leads down to the beach level and in the distance you see the glistening sunshine on the
Caribbean Sea- absolutely breathtaking.  We received a very warm welcome from Maria, the travel agency
sales industry representative and she began our tour.

She first took us into the Royal Service check in lounge for families (aka Family Concierge) - ironically, a
family was in the process of being checked- in, so I really did get a true account of how this works.  Mom
and dad sit at a desk with their concierge as they get checked in; meanwhile the kids are at their own table
coloring pictures.  The kids are given their own arrival package that includes various amenities- a special
baseball cap, t-shirt, bathroom amenities for the kids (Johnson and Johnson products)- just enough to
make the kids feel very special.  We took a peak at the kids club and saw the calendar of daily activities
that are there to keep the kids busy all day long.  Again, the parents are given a walkie-talkie that connects
them to their own concierge to help cater to their every whim.  We then visited the Royal Service check-in
lounge, works very much the same way as the Family Concierge lounge, but this is for adults only.  The
guests have their private check-in lounge - refreshments are always available in this lounge throughout
their stay- very much what one would expect at a concierge level hotel room.  The first thing that impressed
me about this lounge was the yummy smell when you walk in- you instantly felt like you were in heaven it
smelled just like a 5 star spa experience!  The aromas in the air of the lounge would be a welcome from
anyone after a long travel day.

Countless restaurants grace the pool level of the hotel; amazing grounds with 3 pools- you have the adults
only, the family only and then the main pool.  These pools have several Jacuzzis.  You have swim up bars
and the completely cool amenity in  pools would be the in-pool lounge chairs and cocktail tables.  These
are tiled loungers built into the pool structure with table tops next to them so you can literally lounge in the
pool with your cocktail.  Some of these loungers are also covered so you can lounge in the shade and still
enjoy all these amenities.  The poolside lounge chairs were more like “beds”- with very thick mattresses –
some of these were cabana style, covered, while others were out in the sunshine.

I noticed when walking through this property that everyone was extremely friendly with “Hola” and “Buenos
Dias” as we passed.  I definitely got the feeling of luxury, of service, of a quality product.  This hotel was
also recently added to the Leading Hotels of the World collection.  This type of branding endorses the
product as the utmost in luxury.

This hotel was also at 100% occupancy, but we were able to see one room just before the guests were to
arrive.  The architecture in the rooms is absolutely beautiful. There are arches that define the transitions
from hallway to bedroom to sitting area, helping to define the feeling of luxury that you get at this resort.
Each room has a Plasma screen television, beautiful linens and draperies, a large beautiful bathroom with
separate stand alone shower, Jacuzzi whirlpool tub, and all the bathroom amenities that you would expect.
The bathroom is even equipped with a scale- which I’m not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

I was so completely impressed with this property and I want to return to Punta Cana and stay at this resort.
I believe I would be very happy at either of the Paradisus Resorts, but you could really see the difference,
although be it slight, of the two properties- the Palma Real lives up to its’ 5 star ratings!!
